Gaden Jangtse Monks at the Mariposa Museum

The Mariposa Museum is located at 26 Main Street in Peterborough NH (603-924-4555). It has a simple mission:

When children are raised with respect and curiosity towards
other cultures, the world will know more peace and less war.
On Sept 5 -10th 2008, the Gaden Jangtse Monks came and created a beautiful sand mandala. On the 10th they disassembled the creation, indicative of the impermanence of things, even things of great beauty. The mandala was created for the compassionate Buddha which they explained that all mankind can relate to. It was truly a special event.

This was lovely. In addition to the mindfulness of it I learned that the monks attend a university for their studies, this art form is one of the special areas that some monks pursue. It is compelling to witness such focus in mindfulness in the midst of daily chaos and clutter.
